Except for Paint, Microsoft has updated almost all its apps with dark mode. While Paint has received a significant update with Windows 11, it was still missing dedicated dark mode support.

As said, the Paint app used to have a regular theme, despite Windows 11 being set to the dark theme. That has now changed as Microsoft has finally started rolling out dark mode support for Paint in beta.

After testing dark mode for Paint in the Insider Preview Dave and Canary channels, Microsoft has finally released the update for all Insider Preview channels. The feature is expected to roll out to stable builds in the coming months.

As mentioned, the Paint app finally has a dark mode, now it will go dark when dark mode is enabled in Windows 11. Also, like other Windows 11 apps, the Paint app has an option to manually toggle dark mode from Settings.

We're also improving the zoom controls to give you more flexibility and control over the visuals of your content on the canvas, explains Dave Grochowki, principal program lead for built-in Windows apps.

In addition, the Paint app has also gained the ability to zoom in and zoom out with custom values and a new fit screen button to match the display's resolution.

Some other changes have also been made to the Paint app. This includes updated dialogs that match Windows 11's design language, improved accessibility shortcuts, and more.
