WPL 2026: Mithali Raj Backs Nat Sciver-Brunt After Mumbai Indians’ Win

The first match of the Women's Premier League 2026 was played between the Mumbai Indians and RCB. Mumbai lost that match. Mumbai Indians won their second match of the season against Delhi Capitals. Nat Sciver-Brunt scored half-centuries for the Mumbai Indians in both matches. Former Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj has made an important statement about Nat Sciver-Brunt.

Mithali Raj said on JioStar, "Speaking of Nat Sciver-Brunt, she may not have had a good few games, but you know a big innings is always coming from her. The approach and intent she showed when she came out on the field suggested she wanted to contribute to the team. She didn't do that in the last game, but as a unit, the Mumbai Indians knew they had to do well if they wanted to win. Mumbai Indians' fortunes largely depend on her. When she does well, the team does well."

Mithali said of Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur that when she came out on the field, she was timing the ball well. She didn't need many balls to settle her eyes. She continued from where she left off on Friday, and the shots she played were very clean.

In Saturday's match against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, batting first, scored 195 for 4. Nat Sciver Brunt scored 70 and Harmanpreet Kaur made an unbeaten 74. Mumbai won the match by 50 runs. Both Nat Sciver Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur had failed to perform in the first match against RCB.
