Kapil Parmar of India won the bronze medal in the Para Judo Men's 60kg J1 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 Games on Thursday, defeating Elielton de Oliveira of Brazil via ippon. In the match, debutant Kapil Parmar won the bronze medal by defeating Brazilian Elielton de Oliveira 10-0 via ippon.

This is India's first medal in Parajudo at the Paralympic Games. With this, India's total number of medals at the Paris Paralympics now stands at 25.

Earlier in the semi-finals, Kapil was defeated 0-10 by Iran's S Banitaba Khorram Abadi. In the women's 48 kg J2 quarterfinals, India's Kokila was defeated by Kazakhstan's Akmaral Nautbek 0-10.

Parmar made it to the semi-finals by defeating Venezuela's Denis Marcos Blanco 10-0 via ippon in the quarter-final match. In the women's 48 kg J2 quarter-final, Indian athlete Kokila lost to Uzbekistan's Nautbek Akmaral by a score of 0-10. After this, Kokila lost to Ukraine's Yulia Ivanitska by 0-10 in the J2 final of Repechage A.
