On Thursday night, Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the Spanish Super Cup semi-finals. The team scored through Federico Valverde and Rodrygo Alvarez and moved to the final. The team did not use the services of star player Kylian Mbappé, who has been absent for the second game running due to a sprained left knee.

Barcelona and Real Madrid will now lock horns in the title duel on Sunday. Just two minutes into the match in Jeddah, Valverde gave the home side the lead. Uruguayan midfielder Valverde scored from a free kick that was not stopped by Jan Oblak. It was the first goal of the season for Valverde.

However, in the 55th minute, Valverde distributed a pass through the defense, which Rodrygo turned into his team’s second goal to extend the lead. However, three minutes later, striker Alexander Sorlath opened Atlético's scoring with a header from Juliano Simeone's cross. He then attempted to equalize, but failed. The two teams last faced each other in La Liga in September, when Atlético defeated Madrid 5-2.
