IIHMR University, Vital Strategies Boost Health Data Communication

Jaipur, September 25, 2025 – IIHMR University, in partnership with Vital Strategies, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and global collaborators, successfully concluded a two-day workshop titled Communicating with Data: Conveying Health Information to Media and Colleagues. The event, held in Jaipur, brought together 23 public health professionals from across India, including representatives from Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Odisha, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh. The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ abilities to translate complex health data into clear, credible, and actionable messages for diverse audiences.

The program focused on building capacity for effective health communication, a critical component in fostering informed decision-making and public trust in health systems. Over the two days, participants engaged in dynamic discussions and hands-on sessions covering key topics such as data interpretation, crafting ethical and compelling messages, leveraging social media and artificial intelligence (AI) in health communication, strategic communication channels, interagency collaboration, and responsibly managing negative information.

Dr. PR Sodani, President of IIHMR University, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, “Clear and effective communication of health data is essential for driving public awareness and informed decision-making. This workshop provided a unique platform for professionals to hone practical skills, share global best practices, and explore innovative tools like AI to amplify the impact of health communication across India.”

The workshop was guided by a distinguished panel of experts, including Dr. Ruxana Jina, Director of the Data Impact Team at Vital Strategies; Dr. Lara Tabac, Director of the Global Grants Program at Vital Strategies; Dr. Nidhi Chaudhary, Principal Technical Advisor for Data Impact India at Vital Strategies; Dr. Neetu Purohit, Professor at IIHMR University; and Prof. J.P. Singh, Professor at IIHMR University. The sessions were skillfully moderated by Ms. Kirti Agarwal, Manager of Strategic Planning & Partnerships at IIHMR University, and Ms. Gunjan Bawa, Program Associate for Data Impact at Vital Strategies India.

Participants left the workshop equipped with practical tools and strategies to communicate health data effectively, fostering greater transparency and collaboration in public health initiatives. The event underscored the growing importance of innovative communication in addressing public health challenges and building trust in health systems nationwide.
