AIIMS successfully organised a public crisis management mock drill, practicing in a hypothetical bomb explosion situation
Jodhpur: Many departments, including Trauma and Emergency, Surgery, Anesthesia, Radiology,and Neurosurgery actively participated in this mock drill. Nursing services were led by Dr. Suresh Sharma. The security personnel and support staff of the hospital also discharged their responsibilities efficiently.

A mock drill was conducted successfully at AIIMS Jodhpur on Monday to combat an overall mass calamity. The objective of the exercise was to assess the hospital's readiness during emergencies, inter-separtment coordination, resource availability, and the efficiency and ability to treat the wounded quickly.
This mock exercise was conducted under the guidance of Dr. G. D. Puri, AIIMS Jodhpur's Executive Director. It was coordinated by Medical Superintendent Dr. Mahesh Devnani, Disaster Management Committee Chairman Dr. A. S. Sandhu, Trauma and Emergency Department's Head Dr. Mahavir Singh Rodha, and Disaster Drill's Nodal Officer and Deputy Medical Superintendent (Emergency Services) Dr. Bharat Chaudhary.
As part of the drill, a hypothetical bomb blast situation was created in the Basni area, in which 15 injured were brought to the Trauma and Emergency Department. These ‘morgue patients’ were shown in various critical conditions like severe head injury, amputation of limbs. First aid was started by doing quick triage according to the condition of the patients. Some injured were immediately sent to the operating theatre, while others were admitted to the respective wards including ICU.

After the completion of the drill, a review meeting was held, in which the participants shared their experiences. Senior faculty members evaluated the drill and gave necessary suggestions. This exercise not only provided practical training in real disaster situations, but also underlined the possibilities of improvement by reviewing the preparedness of the hospital. This mock drill of AIIMS Jodhpur is a clear proof of the institute's commitment and preparedness towards disaster management.
