Ukrainian Ambassador to India Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk on Sunday appreciated the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that PM Modi is now playing a key role in establishing peace, not just in India but globally. Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Rajkot, Polishchuk said that PM Modi's journey from a regional leader to a national and now global leader is a prime example of this. He said that PM Modi was among the select few leaders from the Global South to visit Ukraine during the Russia-Ukraine war in 2024.

This was also the time when important statements were made by the Ambassador of Ukraine regarding India and Ukraine relations. The Ambassador said, “I am sure that the realization of a permanent and just peace in our country can further deepen our India-Ukraine relationship, with Gujarat being an important partner in it. I hope that our co-operation for international peace can provide the basis for further economic co-operation in the future. From 2023, our country will be partner countries at this global platform. This gives us both reasons for trust and an opportunity.”

Polishchuk stated that Ukrainian companies are engaging with India in several sectors, including industry, education, agriculture, engineering, IT, energy, and logistics. He noted that cooperation between the two countries is already strong in traditional sectors such as sunflower oil, grain, and pharmaceuticals.

He invited Indian companies to participate in the Ukraine Recovery Conference and stated that there are also possibilities for defense and technical cooperation under the "Make in India" initiative. Speaking outside the event, he expressed hope for Indian companies' participation in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

Olexander Polishchuk also stated that President Volodymyr Zelensky may visit India this year. During this visit, discussions are expected to take place on joint projects between the two countries and new opportunities for cooperation.

Rwanda's High Commissioner to India, Jacqueline Mukangira, also participated in the event. She stated that India and Rwanda enjoy excellent relations. India is Rwanda's second-largest foreign investor and second-largest trading partner. She invited Indian industrialists to invest in sectors such as construction, infrastructure, real estate, agriculture, mining, cybersecurity, tourism, health, and education.
