Sundar Pichai to earn Rs 1,854 cr in 2022: Rs 1,788 cr from stock rewards

Google's parent company Alphabet Inc has paid a total of Rs 1,854 crore ($ 226 million) to its CEO Sundar Pichai in 2022. A major part of this income is from the earnings from the shares of the company. The company has given details about this to the American stock market. Stock options are also included in the salary of Google CEO Sundar Pichai. In such a situation, the stock reward in his total payment has been around Rs 1,788 crore ($ 218 million).
According to the Securities and Exchange Commission filing, the average salary of Alphabet employees last year was about 24.2 million dollars ($ 2,95,884). Compared to America's 20 biggest tech companies, Alphabet paid its employees 153% more than its competitors.
In January this year, Google announced it lay off 6% of its total workforce i.e. 12,000 employees. Since then, Google's employees in different countries of the world have been protesting about the difference in salary, cost cutting and retrenchment.
Earlier this month, hundreds of employees demonstrated outside the company's London office over layoffs. Earlier in March, employees demonstrated after more than 200 people were laid off at Google's Zurich office.
Sundar Pichai is the CEO of Google's parent company Alphabet since 2019. Sundar Pichai became the head of Google in the year 2014. Pichai, 50, was born on June 10, 1972, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
Sundar Pichai grew up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and studied at IIT. He then did his Masters from Stanford University and then did his MBA from the Wharton School. In 2004, he started a job at Google.
