A nationwide 'Cyber Security' exercise began on Monday in order to enhance cyber security in the country. The exercise simulates 'real-world cyber threats' and aims to enhance readiness in the cyber domain all across India. The Defense Ministry provided this information.

This exercise is being carried out by the Defense Cyber Agency under the Headquarters Integrated Defense Staff. This exercise will be held in separate phases till June 27. It includes special training sessions, tests, and a special program for leadership.

The Ministry of Defense said in its statement that more than 100 participants from national agencies of the defense sector and other related parties are participating in this exercise. In this program, an environment will be created as if a cyber attack is actually taking place - fast-paced and a bit like a game. It will test the thinking power of the participants and their ability to work for security. Also, it will teach them the right ways to avoid cyber attacks.

This exercise also includes a conference of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), so that the technical aspect can be linked to leadership. This conference will have lectures from well-known speakers, and at the end, a table-top exercise (ie practical exercise based on a hypothetical scenario) will be conducted.

The ministry said that this program combines organized training with a practical, challenging environment, giving the participants the ability to take quick and decisive action in times of real cyber threats. The Defense Cyber Agency plans to conduct such exercises regularly, so that a culture of prioritizing security can be developed in the country and preparedness is maintained at every level.
