Teaser for Samsung's next foldable phone, claims to be the thinnest and lightest

Last week, Samsung began a teaser campaign for its next generation of foldable smartphones. Now, the South Korean brand has shared a new video teaser, making some claims about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. According to the company's assertions, it will feature a thin and lightweight design. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also anticipated to be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event, reportedly set to take place in New York in July.

On Tuesday, Samsung teased the next-generation foldable, likely called the Galaxy Z Fold 7, through a blog post. The company stated that the new Galaxy Z series is the thinnest, lightest, and most advanced foldable series ever. The blog post includes 'Galaxy Z Fold' tags and a video of a smartphone featuring a book-style foldable form factor, which clearly indicates the Galaxy Z Fold 7 rather than the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

According to the teaser released, the upcoming phone will provide an ultra-level experience. Samsung noted that with each new Galaxy Z generation, their engineers and designers focus on creating a device that is thinner, lighter, and more durable than before.

Recently, many rumors have suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be slimmer than existing foldables. It is rumored to have a thickness of 3.9mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. 

For comparison, last year's Galaxy Z Fold 6 measures 12.2mm thick when folded and 5.6mm thick when unfolded. In contrast, Oppo's Find N5 has a thickness of 8.93mm in the folded state and 4.21mm in the unfolded state. Vivo's upcoming X Fold 5 is rumored to feature a thickness of 4.3mm when unfolded and 9.33mm when folded.

Samsung's new Galaxy Z series foldables are expected to be revealed in July. The company will continue teasing features ahead of the official launch. The Galaxy Unpacked event for the new devices is rumored to occur in New York. The brand is also expected to introduce a new Fan Edition (FE) model along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 this year.
