Drug smuggling under the guise of ambulance, huge amount of poppy husk recovered in major police action
Balotra: Superintendent of Police Amit Jain said that as per the instructions of Police Headquarters Jaipur and Jodhpur Range IG Vikas Kumar, a special campaign "Operation Bhaukaal" is being run in the district against drug smuggling and illegal weapons.



Two significant operations under the 'Operation Bhaukaal' against drug smuggling have been conducted again by Balotra Police, and one smuggler was arrested after confiscating a massive quantity of illegal poppy husk, one illegal pistol, and two vehicles. The action was taken in the Pachpadra and Kalyanpur police station areas, where a total of 1240.2 kg of poppy husk was recovered from an ambulance and a Bolero vehicle.
Following the information provided by DCRB Balotra, on the 14th of June, Pachpadra Police intercepted the Patau border and surrounded an ambulance vehicle. The driver attempted to escape to Bharatmala Road on seeing the blockade but got apprehended after a diligent pursuit by DST Balotara and Kalyanpur police team.
The arrested suspect is Peeraram son of Padmaram Jat (aged 21 years), who hails from Bhurtiya, Thana Nagana, Barmer- Balotara. During the search operation, Peeraram had an illegal pistol, 3 live cartridges, as well as an empty case on him. Meanwhile, a poppy husk weighing a total of 1179 kg in 65 sacks was seized from the ambulance. Superintendent of Police Amit Jain, IPS, said that Force Company's ambulance was used for smuggling, which clearly shows that the accused are adopting professional methods to avoid the eyes of the police.
