The US and Britain have moved closer on the trade front. Both countries have confirmed the trade deal. US President Donald Trump has described this agreement as 'fair' for both countries. In a statement issued on Monday, both countries stated they are signing a trade agreement that will reduce tariffs on goods from both nations.

However, this agreement between the US and the UK does not include tariffs on steel, which is an important aspect of bilateral trade. In this context, talks are still ongoing between the two nations regarding the steel tariff. All eyes are on whether the steel tariff will be eliminated according to the plan outlined in the temporary agreement.

It's worth noting that during his tenure, Trump adopted a tough stance on many countries and announced reciprocal tariffs, based on which America is now charging higher duties.

Trump and Starmer announced the trade agreement back in May. Both leaders indicated that Britain and America have reached an agreement under which American import taxes on British cars, steel, and aluminum will be reduced, while British markets will become more accessible for American products, including beef and ethanol. However, this has not taken effect immediately, leaving British businessmen in a state of uncertainty. They wonder if Britain will face any unexpected increases from Trump.

Earlier this month, the UK government was shocked when Trump doubled the tariff on metals for countries worldwide to 50 percent. He later clarified that the tariff for the UK would remain at 25 percent. In this context, Prime Minister Starmer stated on Monday that the trade agreement is now in the final stage of implementation and expressed hope that it would be completed very soon. Regarding this agreement, US President Trump remarked that after it is finalized, 'a lot of jobs will be created,' along with increased income opportunities.
