Paddy sowing: According to the data released on Tuesday, the sowing of paddy has increased in the current season in the country. Sugarcane sowing has also increased. Compared to last year, it has increased to 55.07 lakh hectares, which was 54.88 lakh hectares in the same period last year.

The current Kharif season of the country, to date, up to June 13, has recorded an increase of 13 percent in area covered with sown paddy. According to government statistics released on Tuesday, June 17, a total of 4.53 hectares were sown with paddy.

Paddy was sown on four lakh hectares last year during the same period. According to the released data, the sowing area of pulses till June 13 has been 3.07 lakh hectares. It was 2.6 lakh hectares at the corresponding period a year earlier.

Furthermore, sowing of coarse cereals like Shri Anna has remained steady at 5.89 lakh hectares so far this Kharif season, compared to a year earlier at this time of the year, when sowing was done on 5.9 lakh hectares.

Sugarcane sowing has also seen a slight increase. It has increased to 55.07 lakh hectares, which was 54.88 lakh hectares in the same period last year. Talking about cotton, the sowing of cotton has also seen a decrease this time. Cotton sowing has decreased marginally to 13.19 lakh hectares. Last year in the same period, cotton was sown in 13.28 lakh hectares.
