Locals heard a loud explosion, and they saw a massive cloud of smoke rising from the scene. On social media, a video showing a massive cloud of smoke leaving the factory was circulating.

Around 11:30 am, a fire broke out at the polythene production facility owned by the Jindal Group in Nashik's Mundegaon village of Igatpuri tehsil. Inside the chemical facility, the boiler is where the fire started.

A woman who had died was taken to the hospital, where she passed away from burn wounds.

"Includes supervisor and workers totaling 14 injuries. They were taken to the hospital, according to Shahji Umap, the police superintendent in Nashik.

Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, intervened and declared that the injured and those trapped within were receiving all assistance possible.
