Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra was fined 50% of his match fee for allegedly headbutting Karnataka substitute fielder KV Anish on the second day of the Ranji Trophy final.

The incident occurred in the 101st over of Jammu and Kashmir’s first innings. Dogra, who was batting with Kanhaiya Wadhawan, hit a boundary off a ball from Karnataka fast bowler Prasidh Krishna. This was followed by an argument between him and Anish, who was standing at forward short leg. Dogra then moved towards Anish and appeared to head-butt him, injuring the helmeted substitute.

Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal intervened to calm the situation, and the umpires also stepped in to prevent things from going out of hand. According to a Cricbuzz report, Dogra apologized at the end of the over, but Anish reportedly did not accept it. Senior Karnataka players also reacted to the incident.

The heated atmosphere of the match did not subside. Soon after, another confrontation occurred when Karnataka fast bowler Vijaykumar Vaishakh and Wadhawan came face to face after contact while taking a run. After Wednesday's play, Paras Dogra told Cricbuzz about the incident, "It was nothing major; it happened in the heat of the moment. Such altercations happen, especially during finals. We calmed the situation down then and there. They started talking again."

Kanhaiya Wadhawan, who was at the non-striker's end during the incident, declined to provide any details. He said, "It happens. It's part of the game. Sledging happens. It was from both sides. Some from our side and some from their side. Nothing was done intentionally. It was resolved quickly."

41-year-old Dogra is one of the most respected players in India's domestic circuit, having recently surpassed the 10,000-run mark in Ranji Trophy cricket. Dogra scored 70 runs in the first innings of the final match against Karnataka. Jammu and Kashmir had scored 527 runs for the loss of 6 wickets till the second day's play.
