A military award will be given to Major Radhika Sen, an Indian woman peacekeeper who participated in the UN mission in Congo. On May 30, International United Nations Peacekeeping Day, Major Radhika Sen will receive the 2023 United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award. This award is being given to him in honor of UN Secretary-General Guterres.

From March 2023 to April 2024, Major Sen commanded the Indian Rapid Deployment Battalion in the eastern region of the Republic of Congo. Her home state is Himachal Pradesh. She enlisted in the Indian Army eight years ago, having been born in 1993. Major Radhika Sen graduated as a Biotech Engineer, and only after that did she decide to join the Indian Army.

She is the second Indian peacekeeper after Major Suman Gawani to receive the 2023 United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award. Major Gawani had served in the United Nations mission and was honored with the award in 2019.

Guterres congratulated Major Sen for his service. He said, "She (Major Radhika Sen) is a true and exemplary leader. Her service is a contribution to the United Nations as a whole." Following the announcement of the award, Major Sen said, “This award is special to me as it recognizes the hard work of all peacekeepers working in the challenging environment of the Republic of Congo and making an outstanding contribution to bringing about positive change in society. Let us tell you that at present India is one of the countries making the 11th largest contribution of women military peacekeepers to the UN.
