Indian team's young opener Shubman Gill has registered an amazing achievement in his name in the second ODI against West Indies. Gill scored 34 runs in the second ODI and broke the record of Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
Shubman Gill has become the batsman to score the most runs in the opening 26 innings in ODI cricket. Gill scored 1352 runs in 26 ODI innings. Before Gill, this record was recorded in the name of Babar Azam, who scored 1322 runs in 26 ODI innings.
Former England batsman Jonathan Trott holds the third position in terms of scoring the most runs in the first 26 innings of ODI cricket. Trott scored 1303 runs. Pakistan's experienced batsman Fakhar Zaman (1275) is in fourth place. Rasi van der Dussen (1267) of South Africa completes the list of top-5.
As far as the match is concerned, the Indian team suffered a 6-wicket defeat at the hands of the West Indies in the second ODI with 80 balls to spare. India batted first and with a score of 90/0, the entire team was all out for 181 runs. West Indies team achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 36.4 overs.
With this, the West Indies drew 1-1 in the three-match series. While Team India won the first match by 5 wickets, the Caribbean team won the second ODI by 6 wickets. Now the third and final ODI of the series between the two teams will be played in Taruba on Tuesday. Both teams will try to win the series.
