Orange and Yellow Alerts Across Rajasthan as Death Toll from Rains Crosses 190
Rajasthan Weather Alert: Heavy rain continues in Rajasthan. Orange alert issued in 6 districts and Yellow alert issued in 30 districts. No relief expected till September 7. Possibility of heavy rain in Jaipur, Ajmer, Tonk, Bhilwara, Sikar, Nagaur, strong winds and lightning warning.

The rain in Rajasthan continues unabated, disrupting the lives of common people over the past several days. The Meteorological Department has clarified that relief is not expected soon, with a possible reduction in rainfall only after September 7. Notably, more than 193 deaths have occurred due to rain- related accidents in the state, along with significant property damage. The government has directed ministers and MLAs to visit the rain- affected districts starting today.
The Meteorological Department has issued a new alert for September 5, declaring an orange alert in Jaipur, Nagaur, Sikar, Ajmer, Tonk, and Bhilwara, warning of heavy rain, lightning, and winds of 30–40 km/h.
A yellow alert has been issued for 30 districts, including Churu, Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Bundi, Baran, Jhalawar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Pali, Barmer, Sirohi, Rajsamand, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, and Pratapgarh.
The department warned that rain activity might intensify in parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions in the coming days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected between September 5 and 7.
Citizens are urged to avoid unnecessary travel during rain, stay away from lightning- prone areas, and remain vigilant. Local authorities are on high alert, increasing surveillance in vulnerable areas.
In Jaipur, continuous rain has aggravated conditions in low- lying neighborhoods. The Jaipur Municipal Corporation Heritage received 330 complaints at flood control centers and offices during heavy rains. The district administration reported using 19, 800 earthen sacks to mitigate waterlogging and soil erosion, installing 15 pumps, with three additional pumps set up in Jawahar Nagar Kachhi Basti. Additionally, 3, 3,100 feet of roads were repaired, and covers installed on 180 drains and manholes. Out of 450 electricity- related complaints, 280 were addressed immediately. Relief operations involved deploying 7 JCBs, 13 tractor trolleys, and 4 additional dumpers.
Civil Defence flood rescue teams conducted nine operations over the past three days, evacuating residents from areas like Thikriya Gurjaran (Kotkhavda), Jaisinghpura Khor, Sagar Road Amer, and Galta Mandir Road. SDRF rescued four individuals trapped in waterlogging caused by the Chhaparwada dam overflow in Dudu. Rescue teams were dispatched after assessing the damage when the Nalawas dam breached in Kotkhavda.
