Bhambri-Venus Exit After Three-Set Battle Against Skupski-Salisbury in US Open

Indian tennis player Yuki Bhambri and his New Zealand partner Michael Venus suffered defeat in the US Open Men's Doubles semi-finals. Bhambri lost 7-6 (2), 6-7 (5), 4-6 in a thrilling match against the experienced sixth-seeded British pair of Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury.

Joe Salisbury-Neal Skupski will face Marcel Granollers-Horacio Zeballos in the US Open Men's Doubles Championship final. Granollers and Zeballos defeated unseeded American pair Robert Cash and JJ Tracy 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in three sets to make it to the title match.

The semi-final match played at Louis Armstrong Stadium witnessed a tough competition at the start. After giving a tough fight till the tie-break of the first set, Bhambri and Venus showed excellent game and lost only two points and won the first set 7-6 (2).

In the second set, Bhambri and Venus took the lead by breaking the opponents' service in the very first game. Fans were expecting a big upset, but Bhambri-Venus also lost their service. After this, some more tough games were played, resulting in another tie-break. This time the British pair won the tiebreak and the set 7-6(5).

In the third set, Salisbury-Skupski suddenly dominated, especially at the net, the pair looked invincible. At a 5-3 lead, the British pair had three consecutive match points, which they lost. However, they won the decisive set 6-4.

Playing his first Grand Slam semi-final, Bhambri was the last Indian challenge in this year's US Open. Earlier, the pair of Anirudh Chandrasekhar and Vijay Sundar Prashant were eliminated after losing 6-4, 6-3 to Brazil's Fernando Romboli and Australia's John-Patrick Smith.

Earlier, Indian veteran Rohan Bopanna and his Monaco partner Romain Arneodo were eliminated in the first round on Saturday. Similarly, Arjun Kadhe and his Ecuadorian partner Diego Hidalgo also lost in the first round.
