US Open 2025: Yuki Bhambri–Michael Venus Enter First Grand Slam Semifinal; Anisimova Stuns Swiatek

India's Yuki Bhambri and New Zealand's Michael Venus continued their excellent performance and made it to their first Grand Slam semi-final by defeating the pair of Nikola Mektic and Rajeev Ram in the men's doubles category.

The Indo-Kiwi pair defeated 11th seed Nikola Mektic of Croatia and American veteran Rajeev Ram 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 in a high-level quarterfinal match played on Wednesday night. In this match played on Court 17, Bhambri's fast net play and Venus's strong service were seen in great display, due to which both won in straight sets.

Bhambri and Venus will next face the British pair of Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury in the semi-finals. Earlier in the tournament, Bhambri and Venus entered the quarter-finals by defeating Gonzalo Escobar (Colombia) and Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela (Mexico) in the third round.

Amanda Anisimova has made it to the semi-finals of the US Open by defeating Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek with the best performance of her career. In the quarter-finals played on Wednesday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Amanda Anisimova caused a big upset by defeating Poland's star tennis player Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-3 in straight sets in a match that lasted one hour and 38 minutes.

With this win, Anisimova avenged her humiliating defeat in the Wimbledon final 53 days ago. Anisimova has reached the US Open semi-finals for the first time where she will face Japan's Naomi Osaka.

After the match, Anisimova said, "I really did not enter the field with any fear. I proved to myself, and maybe to others, that positive thinking and fighting spirit will definitely yield good results."

Swiatek said, "For me it doesn't really matter. Everyone knows how Amanda can play. She had to struggle there, but today she was faster. My service disappointed me."
