Hurricane Hillary is currently wreaking havoc in Southern California. Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency in the state amid heavy rain and flooding forecast.

As CNN reports, more than 7,500 security personnel on the ground rescuers have already been deployed to protect against the effects of Hurricane Hillary. Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency for much of Southern California in the wake of Hurricane Hillary.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the fury of Hurricane Hillary could bring significant rain to parts of the Southwest. Hurricane Hillary was downgraded from a Category 3 storm to a Category 2 storm as it entered California on Saturday.

According to the center, the storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 110 mph. The storm is moving at 17 mph and is now 640 miles southeast of San Diego. According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, the southwest will see the worst effects of the storm on Sunday and Monday.

If Hillary reaches California as a tropical storm, it will be the first such storm to hit the state in nearly 84 years, according to records from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
