CJI UU Lalit is handling cases in fast track manner: Supreme Court disposed of around 1300 cases in the last 4 days
The Supreme Court has disposed of 1293 cases in the last 4 days. Of these, there are 440 transfer cases. In the last two days, 106 regular cases have been disposed of. Chief Justice of India (CJI) UU Lalit gave this information on Friday. He was speaking at a program organized in his honour by the Bar Council.
He said that we are giving more emphasis on the disposal of regular cases. The CJI assured that the Supreme Court would continue this practice of speedy disposal of the case. He said that the court is now listing more cases than before he took charge.
CJI UU Lalit is in action as soon as he takes over. Actually, he has a tenure of 74 days. In such a situation, they want to complete the trial of maximum cases in less time. Justice Lalit was sworn in as the 49th CJI of India on Saturday. He will retire on 8 November. He replaces Justice NV Ramana, who retired on August 26.
