Migration in Hong Kong: Population record decline after 61 years

Exodus has started in Hong Kong due to the strict restrictions of Corona and Chinese policies under Xi Jinping. Due to this, the population of Hong Kong is decreasing rapidly. About 1.12 lakh residents have migrated here in a year. While the number of people leaving Hong Kong a year ago was 89,200.
Permanent residents are also among the migrants. Along with them, college students and other migrant citizens are also leaving the city. In the last 1 year, the population has come down by 1.6% to 72.9 lakhs. A year ago the population here was 74.1 lakh. This is the biggest decline in population since 1961. Hong Kong's pro-Communist Party officials claim that this reduction in population is not due to policies, but natural.
In Hong Kong, the birth rate is much lower than the death rate. According to experts, the social upheaval has intensified in the last few years. At the same time, the exodus of residents has increased rapidly after strict action against the pro-democracy movement. Strict travel restrictions were in place under the Zero Kovid policy on the lines of China. When the lockdown was over in the rest of the world, there was still a lockdown in Hong Kong. Most of industries have reached the verge of closure due to the prison-like situation.
Supporters of democracy got into trouble after anti-government protests in Hong Kong. For such people, many countries including America, and Australia had issued new visas. Many activists took refuge in Taiwan. For those who are in Hong Kong, the administration is suppressing them.
