Google has introduced Gemini 2.0, that is the top version of its Gemini AI model. This model has come with better capabilities and new features than before, including support for image generation and audio generation. Currently, this model is available in beta version for select developers and testers. At the same time, its Gemini 2.0 Flash AI model has been added to Google's web and mobile apps for all users.

Features of Gemini 2.0:

  • Upgraded multimodal output: The Gemini 2.0 Flash AI model now supports image generation and steerable text-to-speech (TTS) multimodal audio. It can automatically call tools like Google Search and code-execution tools through user-defined APIs.
  • Not suited for complex tasks, but fast and efficient: The Flash model has comparatively fewer parameters, but it offers low latency and high efficiency. Other variants of Gemini 2.0 will be made available soon for large and complex problems.

According to benchmarks conducted by Google, Gemini 2.0 Flash has done well in tests for Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU), Natural2Code, MATH, and Graduate-Level Google-Proof Q&A (GPQA), among others, and even outperformed the model Gemini 1.5 Pro.

They are available to users via API through Google's AI Studio and Vertex AI. Currently, it is only available to early access partners of Google for Image and Text-to-Speech capabilities. In Gemini 2.0 Flash, the option for users to access it has been provided using a model selector option on the web and mobile interface. Google said that very soon, its larger versions would be added to its other products.
