Directly blaming the continuing activities from across the border for the incidents of terrorist violence in Jammu and Kashmir, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi today said Pakistan was still the axis of terrorism in Kashmir valley. "The number of terrorists of Pakistani origin amongst the terrorists killed last year in anti-terrorism operations proves this," he said.

The Army Chief, while replying to questions pertaining to the incidents of terrorist violence in Jammu and Kashmir during the annual press conference, said that the ceasefire agreement is in force on the Line of Control with Pakistan. But attempts of terrorist infiltration are being made continuously from across the border and the role of Pakistan-backed terrorists is more in the terrorist incidents in the valley.

He said that in recent months, there has been an increase in terrorist activities in North Kashmir and Doda-Kishtwar, and Rajouri areas. In today's situation, about 80 percent of the terrorists left in the valley and Jammu region are Pakistani-origin terrorists.
