Apple is working on AI coding tool, partnering with Anthropic
AI Coding: Earlier, Apple announced an AI-based coding tool called Swift Assist for Xcode, which was to be released in 2024, although this tool was never released to developers. According to Bloomberg, some Apple engineers were concerned that this could slow down the speed of app development.

Apple is developing a new AI coding platform. It can be titled Xcode. Apple is collaborating with Amazon-backed startup Anthropic in order to develop a new "vibe-coding" software platform that will write, edit and run code on programmers' behalf with the assistance of artificial intelligence, as per a Bloomberg News report. "Vibe coding" is one technique in which code is created by AI agents alone, and this is gaining increasing momentum in recent periods.
According to the report, this new AI coding system will be an updated version of Apple's Xcode programming software, in which Anthropic's Claude Sonnet AI model will be integrated. While Anthropic declined to comment on this, there was no response from Apple either. The report said that Apple is currently planning to use this software only internally and no decision has been taken yet regarding its public launch.

AI-based coding assistants are becoming very popular these days. Just last month, there was a report that said that generative AI pioneer OpenAI was in talks to acquire an AI coding tool called Windsurf for around $3 billion.
