The general public is troubled by the rising prices of tomatoes in the country. The taste of tomato, which is used in almost most of vegetables, has now disappeared from the lips of most of the people. There is only one reason, the price of tomatoes. The price of tomatoes in the country has reached Rs 250 per kg.
To save people from high prices, the central government is making tomatoes available at a subsidized price. The central government on Sunday reduced the subsidy rate for tomatoes from Rs 90 per kg to Rs 80 per kg in Delhi-NCR and elsewhere with immediate effect.
After a re-assessment of tomato prices and requirements at more than 500 locations across the country, it was decided to reduce tomato prices to Rs 80 per kg.
The National Consumer Cooperative Federation of India (NCCF) and the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) market tomatoes through mobile delivery trucks on behalf of the Centre. Through NAFED and NCCF, the sale of tomatoes has started in places like Delhi NCR, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Arrah at prices lower than normal market prices.
Due to rain and change in weather, the price of tomatoes in the retail markets of big cities was at the level of Rs 250 per kg on Saturday. According to the government, the average price of tomato in India was around Rs 117 per kg. Around 18,000 kg of tomatoes were sold by mobile vans in Delhi-NCR on Saturday.
Union Consumer Minister Rohit Kumar Singh said in a tweet that except in parts of Delhi and Noida, subsidized sale of tomatoes has started in Lucknow, Patna, and Muzaffarpur from Saturday.
If you live in Delhi, you can buy cheap in areas like Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, Pusa Road, CGO Complex, Nehru Place, Govind Lal Shika Marg, Adarsh Nagar, JJ Slum in Wazirpur and Dhodhapur Shiv Mandir. The government is selling tomatoes here through about 50 mobile vans.
If we talk about Noida in NCR, here the cooperative society is selling subsidized tomatoes from its office at Rajnigandha Chowk. Apart from this, the government is also selling tomatoes from mobile vans in Greater Noida. You can also buy tomatoes at a lower price in Noida Sector 78 and Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.
