The Indian hockey team won the Asia Cup title by defeating South Korea 4-1. On this victory, former Olympian and Congress MLA Pargat Singh congratulated the players and expressed hope that the Indian team will perform well in the upcoming World Cup and other tournaments. He also appealed to hockey players to help the people by adopting one village each.

Pargat Singh said, "A great combination is being seen in the Indian hockey team. Winning the Asia Cup will boost the morale of the players. I will appeal to the players to adopt one village each to help the people affected by the flood in Punjab. If the land of the village farmers is to be improved, then they will need vegetable seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to protect the crops."

Regarding the visit of the country' s Prime Minister, PM Modi, he said, "The central government should release funds for Punjab soon. Punjab is currently facing very difficult conditions. The central government should support Punjab financially." At the same time, former captain Manpreet Singh' s mother, Manjit Kaur, said she is very happy that the Indian hockey team brought glory to the country by winning the Asia Cup. She believes the team will also perform brilliantly in the upcoming World Cup. On the flood in Punjab, she said that all the players will unite and visit the flood- affected areas with their families to serve the people of Punjab.

Hockey India announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh each to the players of the Indian hockey team that won the Asia Cup 2025. Additionally, the Chief Minister of Bihar announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for each player. Given that hockey players already earn relatively little compared to cricketers, and even if the players donate their prize money or use it to help flood victims- as suggested by the MLA- it might have been better if Pargat Singh had appealed to cricketers and film stars instead. Pargat Singh himself earns a salary of Rs 2. 30 lakh every month. He is a former player of the Indian hockey team who entered politics and is now a member of the Indian National Congress in Punjab.
