The doctor explained that some feel more cold than others due to a difference in body structure, metabolism, health condition, and age. A person who often has fat or muscle in his body struggles to generate body heat during winter days. Conditions like slow metabolism or hypothyroidism reduce body temperature.

The elderly are more sensitive to cold as the ability to maintain temperature weakens with age. Other than that, one's bad blood circulation or poor levels of iron within the body can make the person feel colder than usual in comparison to others.

Follow these tips to stay warm during winter:

  • Wear more clothes: Wear multiple layers of clothing to keep the body warm. Use thermal wear and woolen clothes for extra warmth.
  • Eat and drink warm things: Include soups, herbal teas, and spices like ginger and cinnamon in your diet to promote heat in the body.
  • Exercise regularly: Being physically active improves blood circulation and produces heat in the body.
  • Keep your home warm: Use heaters, hot water bottles, or insulated curtains to maintain heat indoors.
  • Stay hydrated: Drinking water helps your body function properly and maintain warmth.
  • Avoid alcohol: Many people believe that drinking alcohol warms the body. However, this is not true, rather alcohol actually lowers the body temperature.
