National Commission for Women President raised questions on Gehlot government
After the statement of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot claiming that more than 50 percent of the cases of crime against women are false, now the National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma has raised questions. Rekha Sharma has also accused the Gehlot government and the Rajasthan Police of working with a procrastinating mindset and not getting justice for women. Rekha Sharma, while tweeting on Gehlot's statement, wrote – Gehlot wants to avoid responsibility by telling 50 percent of the cases of crime against women as false, like the CM, the mindset and attitude of his police are also evasive. His police work is just like Gehlot. Because of this, women in Rajasthan do not get justice.
The President of the National Commission for Women had raised serious questions about the Rajasthan government in the past regarding crimes against women in Rajasthan. A few months ago, during a visit to Jaipur, the President of the Women's Commission had raised questions about the Rajasthan government and also accused CM Ashok Gehlot of not giving time to meet.
CM Ashok Gehlot had said yesterday that half the cases of crime against women turned out to be false. After the Crime in India report of NCRB 2021, efforts are being made to defame Rajasthan. It would be appropriate to compare the figures between the normal years of 2019 and 2021 as there was a lockdown in 2020. Despite the policy of compulsory registration of FIRs in Rajasthan, about 5% fewer crimes have been registered in 2021 as compared to 2019, while 17 states and union territories including MP, Haryana, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand have registered more crimes. Crime has increased by about 69% in Gujarat, 24% in Haryana, and about 20% in MP. Uttar Pradesh is at the fore in the country in murder, crime against women, and kidnapping. Gujarat has the highest number of custodial deaths. In the case of rape of minors i.e. POCSO Act, Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the country while Rajasthan is in 12th place.
Gehlot said- It is a matter of concern that some people have misused the policy of compulsory registration of FIR of our government, even registered a false FIR. As a result of this, 45.28% of women crimes in the state in 2019, 44.77% in 2020, and 45.26% in 2021 turned out to be false in the investigation. Strict action is being taken against those who have made false FIRs and will continue to do so. Our government is of the opinion that even if some false FIRs are not happening, the policy of compulsory registration has given a boost to the victims and the complainants.
BJP leaders have also targeted CM Ashok Gehlot, raising questions on Gyan. BJP state president Satish Poonia said that the Gehlot government, which has failed to protect women and girls, does not have the right to remain in power even for a day. CM is now insulting women by making such statements. Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathod also raised questions about Gehlot's statement and said that Gehlot has insulted the women of the state. His government is not able to protect women, and CM from above is trying to avoid responsibility by making such statements.
