India Unveils ‘Sudarshan Chakra’: Next-Gen Air Defense Shield Against Drones & Hypersonic Threats
Army: India's proposed air defense system, "Sudarshan Chakra," will prove to be a multi-layered defense shield for modern warfare. Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit stated that the system will protect drones and hypersonic weapons. He warned of drone threats, citing the Russia-Ukraine and Azerbaijan-Armenia conflicts.

India is making a significant move towards further bolstering its defense armor. The proposed air defense system, "Sudarshan Chakra," could prove to be the world's most powerful and comprehensive defense shield in the future. The system is being designed to counter modern threats like drones and hypersonic weapons.
On Tuesday, Chief of Integrated Defense Staff (CISC) Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit said that the system will provide multi-layered security. He was addressing the conference on "Counter UAVs and Air Defense Systems: Future of Modern Warfare." Dixit explained that Mission 'Sudarshan Chakra' will integrate counter-drone, counter-UAV, and counter-hypersonic capabilities.
Air Marshal Dixit stated that warfare is now like chess, where it's essential to stay two steps ahead of the enemy. He cited the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war as examples to illustrate how cheap drones can harm expensive military resources.
Dixit referred to Operation Sindoor, during which the seized drones were outfitted with advanced technology and artificial intelligence. According to him, weapons based on AI will be a significant challenge in future warfare.
Dixit stated that the country cannot go bankrupt to win a war. He emphasized that a self-reliant India is essential in the defense sector and that counter-drone systems must incorporate both 'soft kill' and 'hard kill' capabilities. This will enhance the country's strength, and the entire world will acknowledge our power.
