Zimbabwe has created another shock in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. In their fourth and final group stage match, Zimbabwe beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets. Chasing the target, Sri Lanka scored 178 runs in 20 overs by losing 7 wickets. In response, Zimbabwe reached the target three balls earlier, losing only 4 wickets. Not only did Zimbabwe beat Sri Lanka, but the team also kept their winning record alive.

In this match, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. The team started well, with Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka adding 54 runs for the opening wicket. Kusal Perera was dismissed for 22 runs, while Kusal Mendis was dismissed for 14 runs.

On the other hand, Pathum Nissanka, who had scored a century against Australia, played another brilliant innings, though he was dismissed for 62. Pawan Ratnayake smashed a quickfire 44 off 25 balls. Finally, Dunith Welalage scored 15 off 8 balls to take Sri Lanka past 170. Sri Lanka ended up with 178 for 7 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 179, Zimbabwe also got off to a good start. Brian Bennett remained unbeaten until the end. His partner, Marumani, scored 34 off 26 balls, while Ryan Burl made a quickfire 23 off 12 balls. Captain Sikandar Raza shattered Sri Lanka's hopes with a 26-ball 45. Tony Munyanga then joined Bennett to complete the remaining task.

Zimbowe reached the target in 19.3 overs, maintaining their unbeaten streak. This is their third consecutive victory in the group stage. They had previously defeated Oman and Australia, while their match against Ireland was abandoned due to rain. In the Super 8 round, Zimbabwe will face the West Indies on February 23rd, India on February 26th, and South Africa on March 1st.
