Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed, world will have a powerful technology within the next 5-10 years

Speaking at Dubai's World Government Summit, Google's Chief Executive Sundar Pichai made a revelation about quantum computers. He said that in the next 5 to 10 years, we would start making practical applications of quantum computers. Quantum computing is used today for research purposes only. Pichai added that a decade ago AI was only able to do a few things and how much its use has changed today.

Earlier this year, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made a slightly different prediction. He said that quantum computers would definitely become very useful, but it would take decades. Responding to Huang's claims, Hartmut Neven, founder and head of Google Quantum AI, suggested that quantum computing will become much more "practical" than Huang imagined. He said that Google aims to start commercial use of quantum computing within five years.

"We hope that in five years time, there will be experiments in the real world that can be done only on quantum computers," he said. Quantum computing is something that has been debated over many years, largely by experts and scientists. We've been told that quantum computers would be 1000 times more powerful than regular computers and would be processing information a great deal faster.

Pichai said, "If you step back, quantum computing today is akin to what we saw or knew of artificial intelligence (AI) a few years ago. Before ChatGPT came in 2022, AI was widely known to scientists and was widely used commercially. Similarly, everyone used to think of quantum computing as just faster computers. Its potential is yet to be explored even to the scientists, researchers, and companies working on it."
