Whereas, in case of a second and subsequent offense, the fine shall be increased to a minimum of Rs 5 lakh and shall extend to ten times the value of the goods or articles.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that the QCOs would come into force after six months from the date of notification. Apart from developing a quality ecosystem in India, these QCOs will also ensure the public health and safety of consumers.
QCO for Insulated Flasks, Bottles, and Containers for Domestic Use is a mandatory certification for Domestic Stainless Steel Vacuum Flasks/Bottles and Food Storage and Insulated Containers for products manufactured for the domestic market or imported into India.
Whereas, to ensure smooth implementation of QCO and ease of doing business, relaxation has been given to micro and small-scale industries in terms of timelines for implementation of the order. Various initiatives including the development of QCO are being taken by the department to develop quality sensitization among users and manufacturers alike.
The department states that the purpose of notifying this QCO is to curb the import of substandard products in India, prevent unfair trade practices, and promote domestically manufactured products to protect human, animal, or plant health and protect the environment. To help improve quality.
The QCO will not only improve the manufacturing quality standards in the country but will also enhance the brand and value of products made in India. It was stated that these initiatives together with the product manual will aid in the development of a quality ecosystem in India.
