Another new feature rolling out to Spotify's global user base is lyric previews. Soon, Spotify's free and premium subscribers will be able to see small portions of lyrics below the album art or cover art of songs while they play. The company claims that "early testing shows" that the new layout makes it easier for users to engage with lyrics and helps them return to songs they previously discovered.
Users will be able to share songs from Spotify's Now Playing view to various social media platforms, including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook. This feature will be available on the mobile and tablet versions of Spotify for Android and iOS users. Users can also turn off the lyrics preview by tapping the three-dot menu and clicking the Lyrics Off button.
Finally, the music streaming platform has announced that it is rolling out lyrics translation functionality worldwide for free and premium subscribers. This feature, soon to be available on the iOS and Android versions of the app, will allow users to view lyrics in different regional languages. The app will display lyrics in the device's native language.
However, Spotify's new feature will only be available on select tracks. To access it, users can tap the translate icon in the lyrics section, which is displayed alongside the song's original lyrics. Users will also have the option to switch back to the original language. As mentioned earlier, this feature was first released in 2022 and later expanded to approximately 25 markets last year.
