AFSPA extended for six months in Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, MHA issued notification
AFSPA: According to the Home Ministry notification, the Central Government has further extended the period of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act AFSPA after reviewing the law and order situation in the state of Manipur.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has imposed the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the entire area of Manipur, except for 13 police station areas that have been excluded from its purview. Besides this, AFSPA has been extended for six months more in the Tirap, Changlang, and Longding districts of Arunachal Pradesh and three police station areas of the state. At the same time, AFSPA has also been extended in Nagaland. It has been imposed in eight districts and 21 police station areas in five other districts of the state. It will remain in force for the next six months.
According to the Home Ministry notification, the Central Government, after reviewing the law and order situation in the state of Manipur, exercising the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, declared the whole of Manipur, except the areas falling under the jurisdiction of 13 police stations in five districts, as a 'disturbed area' from 1 April 2025 for the next six months, if this declaration is not withdrawn before that.
The police station areas of Manipur where AFSPA has not been implemented include Imphal, Lamphal, City, Singjami, Patsoi, Wangoi, Porompat, Hingang, Irilbung, Thoubal, Bishnupu, Nambol and Kakching.
Along with this, the Home Ministry has extended the period of AFSPA in Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Phek, and Peren districts of Nagaland. Areas falling under the jurisdiction of Khuzama, Kohima North, Kohima South, Zubza, and Kezocha police stations in Kohima district and Mangkolemba, Mokokchung-I, Longtho, Tuli, Longchem, and Anaki 'C' police stations in Mokokchung district have also been declared disturbed.
