GeM Crosses ₹15 Lakh Crore GMV, Marks Historic Milestone in Public Procurement
GeM: According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, GeM has crossed the GMV figure of Rs 15 lakh crore since its launch. It has not only simplified the procurement process, but has also provided a great opportunity for small and medium enterprises, startups and women entrepreneurs to participate in government procurement.

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) crossed the historic cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of Rs 15 lakh crore since its launch. This was informed by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Monday.
According to the ministry, this digital platform, launched in the year 2016, has given new heights to transparency and efficiency in the government procurement system. Through GeM, various agencies of the central and state governments, public sector undertakings, and other bodies are procuring goods and services on a single platform. Over the last nine years, it has created a strong network connecting government buyers to a wide community of sellers.
GeM CEO Mihir Kumar said that this figure is a testament to the trust placed in GeM by our stakeholders. This success is the result of millions of sellers and buyers who have transformed the way public procurement is done in India. Our focus will remain on deepening inclusiveness, simplifying processes, and promoting innovation so that opportunities can reach every corner of the country.
Each transaction on the platform is meant for doing something beyond fulfilling a purchase. It makes someone answerable, efficient, and empowered. Entry barriers are lowered through policies and technology. GeM has not only made the procurement process easy but also presented an enormous possibility for women entrepreneurs, startups, and medium and small enterprises to engage in government procurement.
