It is said that when Tulsidas was born, he did not cry, but he spoke the name of Ram with his mouth. Hence his name was Rambola. Before becoming Tulsidas, he lived like an ordinary person.

It is said that when Rambola was married, he had a lot of attachment toward his wife. One day, fed up with his carelessness, his wife spoke bitter words to Rambola and said that instead of loving my body and body, if I had loved Ram so much, life would have improved. Hearing the words of his wife, Rambola's mind was awakened and he set out in search of the name of Ram. After this, he dedicated his whole life to Ram Ji and he became Tulsidas from Rambola.

It is said that he was ordered by Lord Shiva to compose poetry in a dream. After this he composed Ramcharitmanas. It took him two years, seven months, and twenty-six days to write it. After the completion of this epic, he took it to Kashi and narrated Shri Ramcharitmanas to Lord Vishwanath and Mata Annapurna. After reciting it, he kept that book in the Kashi Vishwanath temple at night. When the doors of the temple were opened in the morning, Satyam Shivam Sundaram was found written in that book.

Tulsidas has mentioned in Ramcharitmanas that his guru used to narrate Ramayana to him, from which he came to know more and more about Lord Shri Ram and he wrote Shri Ramcharitmanas. Along with Ramcharitmanas, he also composed 12 other compositions like Kavitavali, Jankimangal, Vinayapatrika, Geetavali, Hanuman Chalisa, and Barvai Ramayana, etc., but Ramcharitmanas made him immortal forever.
Tulsidas is said to have had direct darshan of Lord Hanuman, Lord Ram-Lakshman, and Shiva-Parvati. During his travels, Tulsidas had found a ghost on a tree in Kashi, which told him the address of Hanumanji.

After seeing Hanuman Ji, he got the darshan of Shri Ram and Lakshmana. It is also popular that Rambhakt Hanuman Ji helped him in writing Ramcharitmanas.
