Rügen Island, Germany's top holiday spot, is now shimmering with a magical winter wonder. Cold temperatures and relentless snowfall have blanketed the entire island in thick snow. The snowy landscape makes Rügen appear like a fairy tale setting. Here are some facts about this unique island.

Covering 926 square kilometers, Rügen is Germany's largest island, even larger than Singapore. Its 574-kilometer coastline is renowned for its beauty, earning it the nickname "Queen of the Baltic Sea."

The island's most iconic structure is Sellin Pier, stretching 394 meters and famous worldwide for its distinctive architecture. Recently, when the pier's lights illuminated at night, their reflection on the ice created a mesmerizing scene that draws many visitors.

Currently, nature is showing its harshest side. Temperatures have dropped to -12°C, and thick clouds block sunlight, preventing the ice from melting. This leaves the landscape resembling a white desert.
