A cold wave alert has been issued in Rajasthan. According to weather experts, a severe cold wave is to be expected in some parts of Shekhawati and northwestern parts of the state over the next 24 hours. A cold wave warning has been issued for 7 districts on Sunday. Clear weather is to be expected on January 26th, providing some relief from the prevailing cold wave. However, owing to the effects of a new western disturbance, a deterioration in weather is to be expected in the northeastern districts on January 27th. A warning has been issued for a clouded sky, strong winds, rain, and hailstorms.
With recent rains and hail storms in Rajasthan, there has been an intensification of cold wind effects in North India. In addition, there has been a sudden drop in temperatures in almost every city in Rajasthan. Minimum temperatures have dropped below 5 degrees Celsius in seven districts. Mount Abu has frozen as temperatures dropped below freezing. Meanwhile, the freezing cold in rural areas of Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar, Sikar, Jaisalmer, and Nagaur has caused dewdrops to freeze. In Sikar, the plummeting temperatures have turned dewdrops into ice, raising the possibility of crop damage.
Over the past 24 hours, the skies remained clear and sunny in most cities. While the sunshine provided some relief from the cold, cold winds in the afternoon intensified the chill. Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Hanumangarh areas experienced the most severe daytime chills. Maximum temperatures here ranged from 14 to 14.2 degrees Celsius, making the day feel as cold as night. Jalore remained overcast throughout the day. The clouds caused temperatures to drop, leaving people feeling the bitter cold.
