Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Agency Launches Action Against Rashid Latif Over Remarks on PCB and Chairman Mohsin Naqvi
Former Pakistan captains: Former Pakistan captains appear to be in trouble. The Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has launched an investigation against Rashid Latif for his comments on PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, while a complaint has also been filed against Wasim Akram for promoting a batting app.
Pakistan's National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, or NCCIA, has launched an action against former captain Rashid Latif after comments about the PCB and its Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. According to reports, the spokesperson for the agency, Najibullah Hasan, confirmed on Wednesday that Latif had recorded his statement for the two interrogations against him in Islamabad and Lahore. A complaint was filed against him by the PCB Senior Legal Manager, Syed Ali Naqvi.
Rashid Latif has criticized frequent changes in the leadership structure of Pakistan. He took to Instagram to state that Shaheen Shah Afridi was appointed as captain of the ODI cricket team. 'This is a divide-and-rule policy, a political strategy primarily aimed at gaining and maintaining power by creating and exploiting differences among people on religious, ethnic, cricket teams, or any other categories. He also stated that Pakistan is the only country that cannot even produce a good captain.
Latif's statements are being scrutinized at a time when he has been vocal about cricketing matters. During the Asia Cup 2025, in an interview with TOI, he spoke about the high-pressure atmosphere surrounding India-Pakistan matches. Latif stated that there was a lot of tension between India and Pakistan, and that it had now spilled onto the field. He further stated that off-field developments were also creating uncertainty during the Asia Cup, adding that he had no idea what was happening.
Along with the case against Rashid Latif, a separate complaint has been filed against former captain Wasim Akram for promoting a batting app. However, the agency has not yet issued a notice to him.
