'He is a coach like a militant...', this former KKR player made serious allegations against Chandrakant Pandit

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head coach Chandrakant Pandit is a well-known name in Indian domestic cricket. Under his coaching, the teams of Mumbai, Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh achieved a lot of success in the Ranji Trophy. Due to this KKR appointed him as its head coach in IPL 2023. Meanwhile, Namibia's fast bowling all-rounder David Wiese has made some serious allegations against Chandrakant Pandit.

Wiese was a part of KKR in IPL 2023. He has claimed that some foreign players were disappointed with the aggressive style of head coach Chandrakant Pandit. That season, KKR finished seventh in the points table and failed to enter the knockouts.

Wiese said, 'Some issues were going on behind the scenes in the team. The boys weren't happy with some of the things that were going on, and at times, it was a rough changing room. A new coach was coming in and he liked to do things a certain way, but that didn't sit well with the players.

He further said, 'This created some tension in the changing room. People were disappointed, a lot had changed over the years (when McCullum was there), and the new coach brought in some new things which he thought would help us be successful. He (Pandit) is known as a very combative type of coach in India. He is very strict, very disciplined about these kinds of things.

"Sometimes in franchise cricket, when you have overseas players who have played all over the world, they are given a tough time," Wiese said in an episode of 'Hitman for Hire: A Year in the Life of a Franchise Cricketer' podcast. There is no need for someone to come and tell them how to behave, what they have to wear and what they have to do. all the time. I was cool with it, but there were players even more stubborn than me. So, it was difficult.'

Wiese, who played three IPL matches for KKR in IPL 2023, the same year when Pandit was brought in as head coach after Brendon McCullum's departure, admitted that he was frustrated by not getting enough chances in the playing eleven that season. Were disappointed.

Wiese further said, 'That disappointment was more because I played those matches. I didn't get a chance to do much. I hit a few sixes but didn't get the opportunity to show my skills there, and I was never selected again in a team that was struggling with players.

Wiese said, 'I think it would have been OK if I hadn't played a single match, but the fact is I played three matches, had a taste, performed relatively well, and then didn't get a second chance on a struggling team. Found, that was the more disappointing part.'
