Graves of 171 children found in Canada's old school

A group of Native Canadians found the graves of 171 children under the building using a radar system. Natives in Canada are those people who were living there before the British occupation. The building under which the graves were found in Ontario was once a school. It is believed that these graves belong to the children of the natives.
These children were forcibly caught in the 19th century and put in schools run by the church. Upon receiving the grave, Chief Chris Scheid, a member of the group, said that seeing these, we should remember that we have been able to survive. We are here and our ancestors are also here. However, this is not the first time that graves of Native children have been found in Canada.
From May 2021, graves of children of natives are being found in Canada. The Prime Minister of Canada Pope Francis of Vatican City has apologized for this. According to the New York Times report, in the 19th century, Canadian governments and the church ran schools for the children of the natives. The main purpose of these schools was to separate the children of the natives from their culture and way of life, which those in power in Canada considered backward and useless.
It has been claimed in many reports that these 130 schools used to have a very bad system. They were not even given proper food and water. When sick, there was no treatment. Due to this thousands of children died. Last year, Pope Francis admitted that children were also sexually abused in these schools. These schools of the church used to bury the dead bodies of the children under the school after their death. They were closed in the year 1990 after criticisms and several protests.
PM apologized when dead bodies were found for the first time in 2021 For the first time in 2021, the remains of the dead bodies of 215 children were recovered from the campus of an old boarding school in Canada. Some of these children were less than three years old. They were also searched with the help of radar machines. At that time Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called it one of the most shameful memories of history. He also promised concrete action on this.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission also gave a report on the atrocities on children in the school institution. It was reported that 3,200 children had died due to abuse and negligence. There were 51 deaths at the Kamloops school between 1915 and 1963. There were reports of physical abuse, rape, malnutrition and other atrocities of 1.50 lakh children in such boarding schools. Such boarding schools were operated by the Church of Ottawa from the 1840s until the 1990s.
