What was feared is now happening. A few days ago, Meta confirmed the introduction of ads on WhatsApp, and now these ads have started appearing. Currently, Status Ads and Promoted Channels are being rolled out in the Android beta version of WhatsApp. According to the report, WhatsApp beta version 2.25.21.11 has been released to select beta testers, featuring both of these functionalities. The goal is to help business users and creators promote their content.

Through the Status Ads feature, users with business accounts can now place their ads in the WhatsApp status section. These ads will appear between contacts' statuses but will be labeled as "Sponsored" to inform users that it is an advertisement.

The report also states that users will have the option to block these ads, preventing them from appearing again. This feature allows advertisers to reach users directly without compromising their privacy.

The Promoted Channels feature is similar to advertising but specifically promotes public channels. When a brand or business promotes a channel, it will be highlighted in the channel directory, increasing its visibility and reach. These promoted channels will also carry a small "Sponsored" label. This feature is designed to help creators and brands gain recognition faster than through organic growth.

Previously, another feature was introduced in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.19.15, allowing users to download detailed reports of ads they viewed in the Status and Channels sections. These reports include information about the advertisers and the dates when the ads were shown.
