Ricky Ponting made a big prediction about Virat Kohli, said - I had already told...

Former Australian cricketer and two-time World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting believes that Virat Kohli would be relieved after equaling the great Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar in terms of most centuries in ODIs. On his 35th birthday, Virat Kohli equaled Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 ODI centuries by scoring an unbeaten 101 against South Africa at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. Also, India won this match by 243 runs and continued its winning streak. In this edition of the World Cup, Virat Kohli now has a total of 543 runs at a huge average of 108.60.

Ricky Ponting said in the ICC Digital Daily episode that maybe it was a bit strange for him. I think he is working extra hard to equal Sachin's record. The century against South Africa in Kolkata was Kohli's second of the tournament and fourth overall in the ODI World Cup. Ponting believes that Kohli should be considered the best ODI batsman of all time.

Ponting said that there is no doubt that he is the best and I have said this for a long time. He does not need to equal Sachin's record to prove himself the best. If you look at his overall batting record it is incredible. To think that he has scored 49 ODI centuries and has equaled Sachin.

Ponting believes that the opposition teams will have their work cut out for them to face the tough challenge from the Indian bowling line-up. India is yet to play their last league match against the Netherlands on November 12 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
