Apple's Vice President in charge for India, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, East Europe and Africa Hughes Essman has retired. This responsibility has been given to India Head Ashish Chowdhary. Chowdhary till now used to report to Esemann. He will now report directly to Michael Fenger, Apple's product sales head. Sources close to the development said, “The move by the company reflects the growing importance of the Indian market.”

Apple's most expensive phones sold in India: -

1. Apple is the leader in the premium and ultra-premium segment of smartphones in India.
2. In the December quarter, Apple topped the market in terms of shipment value.
3. Apple manufactures non-Pro variants including the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus in India.
4. Last year, the iPhone 13 was the best-selling model in India's smartphone market.
5. Apple has opened an online store in India. Will also open a retail store this year.
6. Most iPhones are made in China. But the suppliers are now setting up plants in India.

Apple's revenue declined 5% to $117.2 billion in the December quarter. But during this time the company made record earnings in India with 16% growth annually. In December, the company exported iPhones worth over Rs 8,200 crore from India. Apple is the first company to achieve this feat in India. That is why it is seeing strong potential in India.
