South Africa, which just won the championship title for the World Test Championship, is currently on tour and is busy playing their first Test game in Bulawayo. The tour is led by Keshav Maharaj, and he was able to create history in his first Test game as captain. Maharaj achieved something no spinner from his country has been able to do until today.

It was accomplished by Maharaj on the second day of play. When play finished on the day, South Africa had achieved 49 runs for the dismissal of one wicket and had accumulated a lead of 216 runs versus Zimbabwe. South Africa declared their first innings on 418 runs for nine wickets. Zimbabwe's first innings could only account for 251 runs.

Maharaj took three wickets of Zimbabwe in the first innings. With this, he also completed his 200 wickets in Tests. With this, he has become the first South African spinner to take so many wickets in Tests. Maharaj completed his double century of wickets by taking the wicket of Craig Ervine. Before him, the record for taking the most wickets for South Africa in Tests was held by Hugh Tyldesley, who had 170 wickets to his name. Maharaj had left Tyfield behind in the last World Test Championship cycle itself.

The second day of the match, i.e., Sunday, was started by Zimbabwe. The host team could not stand in front of South Africa's bowling attack. Sean Williams scored a century for his team, but no other batsman could support him. Williams played an innings of 137 runs with the help of 16 fours in 164 balls. For South Africa, Wiaan Mulder took four wickets. Kodi Youssef and Maharaj took three wickets each.

By the end of the second day's play, South Africa lost the wicket of Matthew Breetzke, who was dismissed by Chivanga. He scored just one run off six balls. Tony De Georgi and Mulder remained unbeaten at stumps. Tony is playing after scoring 22 runs, and Mulder is playing after scoring 25 runs.
