Bharat NCAP will soon release the results of the first set of cars tested post-launch. The rating agency has made complete preparations regarding this. India NCAP was scheduled to conduct this test on December 15. The agency has announced that the first safety ratings will be issued soon. The safety rating of the first car can be announced sometime this weekend.
Bharat NCAP has been established on the lines of Global NCAP. The agency was officially launched in August as India's new vehicle assessment program. India is the fifth country in the world, after the United States, China, South Korea and Japan, to have its testing agency. Earlier, cars made in India were tested by Global NCAP.
Tata Motors is one of the first carmakers to reportedly send its models for crash testing under the India NCAP. According to reports, the Tata Harrier could be the first SUV to undergo the India NCAP crash test this month.
The new Harrier was launched in the Indian market in September this year and has already undergone safety testing conducted by Global NCAP, where it has received a five-star safety rating along with the new Safari SUV.
BNCAP will conduct a series of crash tests. This includes things like front impact, side pole impact, side barrier impact and electronic stability control. To achieve a 5-star safety rating, cars will need to score a minimum of 27 points in AOP and 41 points in COP.
