By the year 2021, 128 crores of 99 lakh Aadhaar cards have been made in the country. RTI has revealed that there are 355884 fake Aadhaar cards made in the last 5 years. These have been cancelled by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Of these, 10 to 12 thousand Aadhaar cards were from Madhya Pradesh.
RTI activist Chandrashekhar Gaur had asked UIDAI for multiple and duplicate information. He was told that in the last five years, 355884 duplicate and multiple Aadhaar cards were found in the country, which was cancelled.
However, in this regard, Nikunj Srivastava, Principal Secretary, of the Department of Science and Technology, says that UIDAI looks after the work of Aadhaar, the state government only has technical support for it. At the same time, no information has been received from UIDAI's Bhopal office.
Every detail like name, home address, date of birth, and virtual ID was not correct in the fake Aadhaar card. When the number of fake Aadhaar cards was verified from the UIDAI site, which did not match with UID and UIDAI's database.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, till the month of July 2022, 1.47 crore people in the country have updated their Aadhaar card. For this people took the help of Aadhaar centers and an online Aadhaar update portal. That is, by the end of July, 63.55 crore people have updated the demographic and biometric details of their Aadhaar cards.
Aadhaar has an important role in reaching the benefits of many schemes including LPG, MNREGA and the National Social Assistance Program to the people through Direct Benefit Transfer. 12511 crore in July 2022 across the country. The transaction was done through Aadhaar Payment Bridge. In July, 22.84 crore rupees and e-KYC transactions have been done through Aadhaar. Banking transactions worth Rs 1507 crore were done through Aadhaar Enabled Payment System and Micro ATM network.
