Robin Liu Steps Down as OnePlus India CEO Ahead of Nord 6 Launch
OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu is stepping down. The reason is currently unclear. Reports indicate he is currently on notice.
OnePlus India’s Robin Liu is leaving his position as the company’s CEO, the Chinese company said on Tuesday. The reason for his resignation is not known, but the company said that he is leaving to pursue his “personal passion.” It is said that Robin Liu is returning to China. The company also said that it asked Robin Liu to report to the head of the company’s sister brand, and that is why he resigned. This comes at a time when the company is preparing to launch the new OnePlus Nord 6 in India early next month.
In a statement to Gadgets 360, a OnePlus India spokesperson revealed that Liu is stepping down as CEO of OnePlus India. The spokesperson said on Tuesday, "We thank Robin for his contributions to OnePlus India. He is moving on to pursue his personal passion, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors. OnePlus India operations will continue in line with the local strategy and ensure business continuity."
However, the smartphone maker has not revealed his successor. Therefore, it remains unclear who will take over as head of OnePlus India.

This development was first reported by The Economic Times. Citing unnamed industry executives familiar with the matter, the publication reported that Liu is currently on a notice period at OnePlus India, which reportedly ends on March 31st. Recently, Oppo acquired Realme as a sub-brand as part of a restructuring and optimization effort; Realme was spun off as an independent unit in 2018.
Liu joined OnePlus in August 2018 as Global Sales and Supply Chain Director and held this position until June 2020. Later, in July 2020, he moved to Bengaluru to head sales for OnePlus in India. Subsequently, in January 2022, Liu was promoted to CEO of OnePlus North America. He assumed his current role as CEO of OnePlus India in July 2024 and is now leaving the tech company after nearly two years.
